Charcoal Grey Skirt

Shirt Amazon
Tshirt Old Navy
Sweater Ralph Lauren
Skirt Ellen Tracy
Sweater Tights too old to remember
Shoes Fluevog
So I just wanted to take a minute to talk about this skirt.

I had been needing/wanting a dark charcoal grey pencil skirt for some time and had no time to make one.

I just happened to be walking to the checkout at Costco and came across this EllenTracy skirt for twelve dollars. I know. Costco. But twelve dollars? You would have to be joking if you thought I didn't snap that baby up.

It's the perfect color, the perfect length, and it's knit so it's super comfortable. I wear it just about every week. If not once, sometimes twice.

I liked it so much that I even went back and bought another one in black.

It's a sickness, I know.

Hawaiian Flower Manicure

With all the Winter doom and gloom going on, I was trying to cheer myself up with a tropical manicure. Dewey picked out the flower stickers.

I'm new to stamping. The middle finger is my second attempt.

On her Blondeness

So I just had my second trip to the salon since going blonde. I went even blonder this time because there was just way way way too much orange going on. I had originally thought that I wouldn’t be able to pull off a platinum blonde, but I really love it. Tristann says that I “finally look like a Canadian”. (Meaning that I look like someone who is from a Northern country – this is how she clarified when I asked her what she thought a Canadian should look like – so she really meant that I look Scandinavian.) Any way, I totally think I can pull this off.

I have been blonde exactly three times in my life:

1)      1972 - 1980 When I was a toddler my hair went blonde from the tips up. This means that my ends were lighter than my roots. People actually asked my mum if she died my hair. I was two. I guess people were stupid in the seventies too. I stayed blonde until about grade three, when my hair turned dishwater/sandy/dirty/dark blonde. Or super light brown. This is when the whole what is your hair colour debate began. I would say I had blonde hair – they would argue and say no it’s not. I would say I had brown hair – they would say no you don’t. I could never win. I hated my hair colour and begged my mum to let me colour it and she wouldn’t let me.

2)      2001 After Huey was born with beautiful thick wavy blonde hair, people would look at me and my dark haired husband and ask “Where did he get his beautiful blonde hair?” Look at that, people are still stupid. I wanted to yell in their faces: FROM ME!! I mean DUH! I am the lighter out of the two of us (DH and I), why would they have to ask? Around the time Huey was one, DH started to comment on how he would like me to have blonde hair. I was never allowed to go blonde - “because I would get roots” said my mother. She instilled this amazing hate of re-growth in me and I was terrified of the upkeep. Regardless, I marched off to the grocery store and got myself some blonde dye. I have really thick hair and I didn’t do the best DIY dye job (see what I did there?) so parts of it turned Billy Idol Blonde, but there were sections of orange. Yeah it didn’t work out so well. DH hated it. Shortly after this, when I had two inch regrowth, was when I met Tristann and she offered to do my hair for me in exchange for sewing lessons. I brought Huey with me and pointed to his head and said “match that”. Well she did and we’ve been together ever since.

3)      Now. So I’ve just been so bored with being dark. Or Copper. Huey told me that he wanted to see what my natural colour was so I cut it all off. I was also curious to see how grey I had become. It didn’t last long. Six months was all. I had this cute short hair and I wanted to do something fun with it, so I opted for the blonde. I still love it.

That’s all.

Navy Blazer

Blazer Chadwick's
Long Sleeve T Mod Bod
Skirt Chadwick's
Shoes Fluevog
So I've been hauling things out of the back of my closet as I'm trying very hard to not buy new things this year.

I have been thinking of trying out blazers again. I'm not much of a blazer person. I prefer turtlenecks and cardigans, but I pulled this out of the back of my closet to wear with jeans and boots and loved it so much I thought I'd try it again.

This time I also got to wear some of my very favourite Fluevogs; the Listen Up! Stacys. Just look at how cute these shoes are!

Out of this whole outfit, the earrings are the oldest and the shirt is the newest.

The earrings are from my hoops stage where I was starting to veer away from the classic circle shape and move into different shapes like these diamond shaped ones. I have hearts too. I have never obtained the highly coveted star shaped ones that I saw in a rap video, but I still have my eyes open.

I've had the blazer for about seven years and the skirt and shoes for about five.

I love love love these shoes. They are a great height, the heel is so interesting, and I could run away from an attacker in them.

Just look at how cute!!

Nail of the Week

Essie Ballet Slippers
I love this delicate pink. One of the reasons I bought this exact shade was because I read that it is the favourite of the Queen. Yep, Queen Elizabeth II of England.

This colour also reminds me of my mum. She always wore the sheerest of pinks.

Weigh-In 168 ish

Hey it’s been awhile since I posted about my weight; mostly because it’s been depressing. I was initially trying to LOSE weight last year and I actually gained.

So the beginning of the year was caffeine free and I think that helped although I’ve been off the wagon for a couple of weeks.

I had my thyroid checked and even though they said I was fine, I changed my dose and things have leveled off a lot better. Instead of yo-yoing between 175 and 169, I’ve been balancing between 170 and 167 or so. I feel a lot better too.

I’m feeling a lot better maybe because of the yoga. I’ve been going once a week for the last three weeks. I’ve been feeling so good that I’ve decided to add another class and go twice a week. Maybe after that I’ll be brave enough to add a Zumba class. We’ll see.

Grey V-Neck, Denim Skirt

Shirt Chadwicks
Sweater Tommy Hilfiger
Skirt Ralph Lauren
Tights Smith's
Shoes Fluevog
I am mostly posting this to show off my tights. These are the cutest, coziest, warmest nicest tights in the world. Of course I bought them at the grocery store.

I super duper love how well they go with my Fluevogs!!

The only minus is that they are not long enough so the crotch sags between my legs. Being tall and skinny for most of my life, I'm used to it. When I danced ballet, my leotard was always pulled down so far because the crotch of my tights was hanging down so low.

See? So cute!
